Start with the machine, not the part
Parts that look alike often are not interchangeable. A Mini-Rooter Pro and a Mini-Rooter XP are both small drum machines, but their parts lists share only a handful of catalog numbers: the XP has its own XP-series motor, drum and switch parts. So the first step is always the machine model, then the part.

Item number vs. catalog number
Every row on a General parts list has two numbers. The item number is a six-digit number such as 167870. The catalog number is the part code such as MR-250, the number printed on the diagram callouts. Either one identifies the part, and our finder searches both.

Use the exploded diagram
The diagram page shows each catalog number where the part sits in the machine. If you have the broken part in hand, find it on the diagram, read the callout, and look that number up. Every machine page in our finder links straight to General’s diagram PDF.
Counter tip: General’s parts lists say it plainly: when ordering, give the serial number of the machine. Some rows only fit certain serial ranges or motors.
What the fit badges mean
- Verified fit: General lists that exact catalog number on your machine’s parts list.
- Configuration required: it fits some versions or setups, such as a serial range, a specific motor, a drum size or a cable size. Check your machine first.
- Unverified: we sell it, but no parts list we have ties it to a machine. Call the counter before ordering.
When the part is not in our catalog
We list over 1,500 of the parts on General’s machine lists online, and we can order the rest. In the finder, any part we do not list has a Request this part button that sends the part number to our counter with your machine name filled in. Add your serial number and we will confirm fit and price.

Where is the serial number on a General drain machine?
It is on the machine’s nameplate. Include it when you order parts, because General notes that some parts only fit certain serial ranges or motors.
Can I search by the number stamped on my old part?
