Cherry wood starts out a bit pale, but darkens over time. Blended-style butcher blocks are constructed using wood pieces of varying length to create the interior rails of the block, whereas the outermost rails feature wood strips that run the full length of the block. The result is a pleasing array of creams and medium-to-dark browns.
