The EWS Essential RO3-UV combines reverse osmosis filtration with UV disinfection in a single under-sink system. Reverse osmosis pushes water through a semi-permeable membrane that removes a much broader range of dissolved substances than carbon filtration alone, including minerals, total dissolved solids, and many chemical contaminants, which is why RO water often has a flatter, more "distilled" taste that some households specifically prefer.
The UV stage adds protection against bacteria and other microorganisms on top of the RO filtration. Like EWS's other systems, it's made in the USA, with filters (and the RO membrane) rated for annual replacement under typical usage, delivering filtered water on demand at a dedicated faucet without a separate holding tank taking up cabinet space in some configurations.
